    • Actionable love and change in motion. I can't help everyone, but I can help one person at a time, teach them how to take personal responsibility and educate people on hope and wellness. Recovery is a lifestyle and a mindset.

  • Hello, my friends, I just wanted to share what I've been working on these days for self-care. It grounds me in my spirituality and keeps me present in the moment. Its a way for me to relieve tension.

  • Good morning, my friends. I want to introduce my Mom, Nan and my son Jesse. Now, this is 24 years ago, but it seems like yesterday to me.

  • The New Selfā€ – Spoken Version for Reading Aloud

There was a time I opened my eyes each morning...
    andĀ cursed the light.

Now, I rise andĀ thank it —
    not because life is easy,
    but becauseĀ I’m still here.

    And that... means something.

I’ve lived in the shadows for most of my life —
    45 years chasing numbness,
    chasing belonging,
losing myself in smoke... and silence.

    I lost a lung.
    Lost years.
    Lost love.

I slept on cold pavement and colder memories.
I nearly chose the end — more than once.

But something bigger than me whispered:
    ā€œNot yet.ā€

    I know now...
That survival was never the end of the story.
It was theĀ doorwayĀ into purpose.

(Let this truth settle. Then continue.)

Today, I don’t run from my past.
    I walk alongside it —
    like an old companion.

My wounds don’t shame me —
    theyĀ shapeĀ me.

They taught me the language of suffering.
Now, I use that language to speakĀ hope
into people still learning how to breathe again.

    My name is Peter Mabey.
    They call meĀ Beamer —
    and I finally understand why.

My mother was a lighthouse keeper on Partridge Island.
    She battled her demons.
But even from a thousand miles away,
    her light reached me.

She became my symbol of grace —
    flawed, human, and stillĀ radiant.

Now, I stand where she once stood:
    not above the waves,
    butĀ in them —
with those still trying to stay afloat.

    And my father...
He didn’t know how to show love the way I needed.
He was a hard man, forged in a hard world.
    But he taught me grit.
He taught me how to survive.

He built with his hands what he couldn’t build with his heart —
    and somewhere in that,
he gave me the strength to build myself back.

    I’ve learned:
    Redemption doesn’t erase the past.
    ItĀ reclaimsĀ it.

Every failure, every cell, every overdose —
    wasn’t the end.
    It wasĀ preparation.

    For empathy.
    For presence.
    ForĀ truth.

    I no longer chase belonging.
    IĀ embodyĀ it.

I carry it into rooms where shame lingers.
    Into hearts that feel forgotten.

I don’t pretend to have all the answers —
I just make sure no one has to ask the questionsĀ alone.

And so, I make this commitment —
    to myself...
    and to those I serve:

I commit to doing theĀ deep inner work,
so I can show upĀ wholeĀ for others.

I commit to saying what I mean —
    with kindness,
    with courage,
    with clarity.

I commit to honoringĀ joy, beauty, and pleasure —
    not as luxuries,
but as sacred acts of healing.

I commit to grounding my work inĀ purpose,
    not performance.

I commit to making my life —
and every act of support —
a reflection ofĀ love, integrity, and humanity.

This... is how I choose to live.

    With truth in my words,
    With care in my hands,
And with fire in my soul.

I don’t support others because I’ve reached the mountaintop.
I support them because I know what it’s like...
to be lost in the valley.

And I believe, with everything in me:
None of us were ever meant to walk through darkness alone.

  • Peter Mabey’s Manifesto

Standing at the Lighthouse — A Life Guided by Hope and Responsibility

I stand as a light — not to lead, but to shine. I am Peter Mabey. My path as a peer supporter is grounded in lived experience and lifted by belief — in people, in growth, in the quiet strength we all carry.

    My Core Beliefs

    • Hope is the anchor. I believe hope is not passive — it’s a practice. It’s choosing to believe in change, even when the past says otherwise. Hope is the light in the Lighthouse, and I keep it lit.

    • Personal Responsibility is empowerment. I take ownership of my choices, my healing, and my presence. Responsibility is not blame — it’s the first act of self-respect.

    • Education is liberation. I seek to understand myself and the world. I believe that learning — emotional, practical, spiritual — is essential to growth and freedom.

    • Self-Advocacy is survival and dignity. I speak up for myself and encourage others to find their voice. Being heard is not a privilege — it’s a right.

    • Support and Spiritual Life go hand in hand. I draw strength from connection — with others and with something greater than myself. My spiritual life keeps me rooted in purpose, presence, and peace.

    My Commitment as a BEAMER

šŸ•Æ Be a Light – I will reflect hope and remind others of their inner resilience. šŸ•Æ Educate & Empower – I will share tools, knowledge, and support for self-advocacy and growth.
šŸ•Æ Act with Integrity – I will take responsibility for how I show up, and hold space with honesty and care.
šŸ•Æ Make Room for Spirit – I will honour the spiritual journey — mine and others’ — with respect and openness.
šŸ•Æ Stand for Community – I will never forget that we heal together. No one is beyond support or hope.

The Lighthouse doesn’t fix the storm — it offers direction through it. This is who I am.
    This is how I serve.13553875870?profile=RESIZE_930x
