  • Daily Dose of Beauty at Parkwood Estate National Historic Site.

For those who may not know, my favourite butterfly is the magnificent Monarch Butterfly. I look forward to this time of year because here in Oshawa, we begin seeing more of them as they prepare for their incredible migration south.

I only share two images each day as part of my Daily Dose of Beauty, but I have captured far more beautiful moments than I could ever share at once. Over just the last few days, I have taken enough photographs to fill weeks of future posts.

That is something I appreciate even more as we move toward winter. During the colder months, I do not get out with my camera nearly as often, but that does not mean the beauty has to stop. I already have a large collection of moments waiting to be shared. Some photographs even go back to 2022, and every so often I can revisit those memories and discover an image I have never shared before.

I am confident that if I stopped taking photographs today, I could probably continue sharing two images every day for close to a year without running out of beauty.

But I don't plan on stopping.

Part of what makes this meaningful to me is that every day is different. Our moods change. Our experiences change. The weather changes. Nature changes. Something we walked past yesterday without noticing may capture our attention today.

There is a connection to health and wellness in that.

What we do and consume today can influence how we feel and function tomorrow. A single healthy choice may not create an obvious change that we immediately recognize, but our choices can build upon one another over time. The same is true of the experiences we choose to make room for—walking, spending time outdoors, slowing down, noticing nature, or simply allowing ourselves a few moments to appreciate something beautiful.

We don't know what beauty we will discover today, and what we experience today may even change what we recognize as beautiful tomorrow.

That is part of the beauty of life: it continues to change, and every new day gives us another opportunity to experience it, learn from it, and choose what we carry forward.

Two images at a time, two moments of beauty each day—and still so much more waiting to be discovered and shared.

  • I truly appreciate the beauty of nature, and I enjoy your eye for capturing beautiful images. You don’t have to post every week; posting every second week or even monthly would be perfectly fine. With so many options to choose from, it takes time to fully appreciate each picture. There are 21 choices to go through, and I can select the images I want to save. The words "love," "compassion," and "community" resonate deeply with me, as they convey a sense of connection and empathy. I really enjoy this aspect of the network. Thanks for being awesome!
