  Daily Dose of Beauty: The Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens

   

  I post two images each day. Visit the other image for a closer focus on the butterfly; this one is about the butterfly, the flower, and the moment they share.

   

  Photography reminds me that we are constantly making choices.

   

  Do I focus on the flower, the butterfly, or both? Do I stand back and take in the whole scene, or move closer and risk missing the moment entirely?

   

  Sometimes a butterfly gives me only a second or two before moving on. If I take my time, I may lose the opportunity for a close-up. Other days, I choose to move in quickly and capture what I can.

   

  And sometimes, there is no photograph at all.

   

  The butterflies may stay too far away, and instead of chasing the image, I simply stand back and watch. In those moments, the beauty is not something I need to capture or share. It is simply mine to experience and enjoy.

   

  There can be health and wellness in that too.

   

  Taking time to observe, make choices, accept that we cannot capture every opportunity, and appreciate what is happening right in front of us can bring moments of calm and reflection.

   

  Our choices shape our experiences, and those experiences become part of the reality we create each day.

   

  Sometimes we capture the beauty. Sometimes we simply experience it. Both have value.
