  • She is beautiful. I hope to drop into Parkwood this weekend. What a great picture. Thanks, John, for sharing.
  • Today was a real treat, one of those rare and beautiful moments that felt like a blessing.

On my way home, I had the chance to capture something truly special, and I’ll be sharing more photos over the next couple of days. But here’s a little sneak peek of what’s to come.

Moments like this remind me of how far I’ve come over the past 4 years. After my stroke, I spent 29 days in the hospital, learning to walk and talk again. One of the things that kept my spirits high was dreaming about photography, even just looking out the window at Parkwood, imagining the day I could visit again with my camera.

The first time I picked up my camera post-stroke, I was devastated to realize I no longer knew how to use it. But my wife reminded me to focus on the positive I could relearn. That moment of fear turned into joy, and I began the journey of rediscovery.
As I relearned how to use my camera, I also began to walk farther. Step by step, I gained strength first walking to Parkwood, and eventually exploring all over the city, from downtown to the airport. What once took me 3-4 hours to walk, now takes less than 40 minutes. Every step forward was a victory.

Reflecting now, I see how much this journey has taught me about resilience, about beauty, and about the small things that make life meaningful. My photos have improved, but more importantly, I’ve grown in ways I never imagined. This path has shaped my commitment to helping others and deepened my understanding of what health, wellness, and connection really mean.

  • I truly appreciate the beauty of nature, and I enjoy your eye for capturing beautiful images. You don’t have to post every week; posting every second week or even monthly would be perfectly fine. With so many options to choose from, it takes time to fully appreciate each picture. There are 21 choices to go through, and I can select the images I want to save. The words "love," "compassion," and "community" resonate deeply with me, as they convey a sense of connection and empathy. I really enjoy this aspect of the network. Thanks for being awesome!
