Expanding Support for Those in Need in Oshawa

Join us for an important event to learn about a new initiative aimed at assisting those most in need in our Oshawa community. We’re expanding our efforts, and we believe in working together for the benefit of all.

What to Expect:

We’ve partnered with Front Porch Mentors to enhance our program by offering weekly volunteer support. During these sessions, individuals in need can visit us and request essential items. Our dedicated volunteers will collect contact information and details of the requested items, which will then be shared through our Oshawa program.

Front Porch Mentors will also have a notebook available during their regular hours, allowing their members to list needed items. These requests will be added to the list generated from our Wednesday events, ensuring that everyone in our community has access to the help they need.

About the LIFE Clothing Program:

The LIFE Clothing Oshawa program is designed to address the challenges of finding properly fitting clothing, especially for those who struggle to access regular channels or other clothing programs. We understand the difficulties individuals face in finding clothing that fits well and the barriers to attending in-person events. To address these challenges, we’re building online options to assist those with mobility issues or who find it difficult to attend in-person events.

How You Can Help:

We rely on the support of our community to make this initiative a success. Here’s how you can get involved:

1. Share the Need: Each Thursday, we’ll post an updated list of needed items on our website and social media profiles. Help us spread the word by sharing these posts with your friends and family.

2. Donate: As our reach and engagement grow, we hope to gather the necessary donations to fulfill these requests. All items will be delivered directly to those in need, whether to their place of residence or through special arrangements for those who are homeless or in shelters. Visit each post for ways to donate the item posted.

3. Join ILFJL: Most of our content is public, but to comment or participate in associated benefits, you’ll need to be a member of ILFJL. We use Verified Badges within our network to ensure the privacy and security of our members.

4. LIFE Community Partners: If you’re not already a member, consider joining our LIFE Community Partners program. Active partners can contribute to the lists at any time, and when items are donated, you’ll be notified to arrange drop-off. This also applies to groups and organizations with a verified badge on our site, like Front Porch Mentors.
