🌱 Why Grow Indoors All Year Long? 🌱
This leaf in the photo looks healthy, soft, and vibrant, but sadly, it’s not safe. Where I harvested it, the field is contaminated. Here in Oshawa, many lands were polluted by decades of manufacturing. Add to that the pollution along busy roads and the plastics and toxins that end up in municipal compost, and even community gardens are no longer truly safe.
That’s why I’ve chosen to grow indoors, without pesticides or herbicides, in small apartment spaces. It’s not perfect, but it’s cleaner, safer, and gives me control over what I put into my body.
My journey began out of necessity. After a major stroke and being told my chances for survival without risky heart surgery were slim, I knew I had to rebuild my strength. But I couldn’t afford the raw, whole foods my doctors recommended. Rent came before expensive produce. So I taught myself, through plant medicine, hydroponics, and nutrition, how to grow my own food indoors, even in the smallest spaces.
I grew what my body needed for recovery: fresh greens, herbs, and nutrient-dense plants. I made my own spice mixes to get targeted nutrients. Step by step, I regained strength, reduced my medications from nine down to two, and kept walking forward.
Now, through FIFE – Food Is For Everyone, I share what I’ve learned. Because health and wellness should never depend on income or privilege. Like love, food is for everyone.
💚 That’s why changes are coming. I’m shifting focus toward education, for those who truly want to learn how to grow indoors year-round, for themselves and for their health. 💚 I’ll be sharing resources about vitamins, minerals, and how plants support different parts of the body. 💚 I’m building tools and options to help you connect your own health needs with plants you can grow and use.
This isn’t one-size-fits-all. We each have different wellness needs. My story may not be your story, but the principle is the same: with knowledge, small actions, and the right plants, you can take steps toward healing and resilience.
I choose love and compassion in everything I do. Growing food, sharing knowledge, supporting health and wellness, these are all ripples of that choice.
✨ Now I ask: What will you do for your health, wellness, and future?

🌱 Why I Started with Mullein 🌱
Today, I planted 3 more containers of Mullein. From now on, I’ll be starting new seeds in groups of 3 containers—keeping it simple with just one plant type per group.
In the past, I tried planting 3 different seeds in each container, but it didn’t work out as I hoped. This change is part of the learning process: live, adjust, and improve.
With this new approach, my growing spaces are becoming tidier and more organized. Each set of 3 containers brings more consistency and steady progress toward the changes I’m working on.
Every new container will also connect to an educational series of posts and articles I’ll be sharing across social media. Growth takes time, patience, and lots of trial and error—so stay tuned for updates in the days, weeks, and months ahead.
