Oshawa Help With Making Sandwiches
Help Support LIFE Community Project’s Free Meal Program in Oshawa
LIFE Community Project, a long-standing initiative in Oshawa, is expanding its mission to assist those most in need by launching Not Just A Meal Program, a free food program delivering meals, clothing, and necessities to individuals facing mobility challenges or who are otherwise unable to reach community support hubs. Grounded in love and compassion, LIFE Community Project has served the marginalized for years, and this new meal program marks the next step in providing crucial support.
A Program for Everyone
The program, starting in early November 2024, will initially deliver sandwiches once a week to those in need, with plans to expand. Unlike other services in Oshawa, LIFE Community Project’s program ensures personal connections with those they serve, through weekly communication and direct deliveries to individuals. This focus on one-on-one support allows the project to understand ongoing needs, offering more than just food but also clothing and other necessities.
This project is a community-driven effort, and to grow, LIFE Community Project needs the support of local businesses, organizations, and individuals.
What We Need:
As we prepare to send out the first meals, we are seeking donations of the following items:
Basic Sandwich Supplies:
- Bread
- Butter
- Ham
- Cheese
- Peanut Butter
- Jam
Fruit & Snacks:
- Bananas
- Oranges/Clementines
- Fruit Cups
- Pudding Cups
- Individually Packaged Crackers/Cookies/Chips
A certified kitchen has generously provided space for preparing these meals, ensuring all food is made in accordance with health and safety regulations. While we encourage home preparation, meals must be made in certified kitchens to meet Durham Region Health Board standards.
How You Can Help:
If you’re able to donate any of the above items or want to get involved, please reach out. The program will begin modestly, with simple sandwiches and snacks, but we plan to grow the offerings, including hot meals in the future. Though we cannot guarantee meeting dietary restrictions like gluten-free or vegan in the early stages, we aim to ensure that no one is left unsupported.
We believe love and compassion aren’t about efficiency but about making sure that everyone feels cared for. As we work together, we know that this initiative can make a profound difference in the lives of those who need it most.
To contribute, contact John E. Walker directly on Facebook or through comments on this post. Let’s come together to show that LIFE—Love Is For Everyone.
Thank you for your support!
