Starting With Food, Drink & Weekly Events

Just Oshawa is beginning the next stage of our Community Promotion Partnership by focusing first on Oshawa restaurants, food and drink businesses, and local venues offering weekly events.

Other types of small businesses, including personal services, will be added through another effort in the near future. For now, we want to build a strong foundation around Food & Drink Specials and Weekly Events before expanding the model.

We aren't looking for rapid growth. Our goal is to add at least one new active Community Promotion Partner every two weeks, allowing us to grow steadily while keeping the promotions useful, current and locally focused.

We Have Already Started

More than 120 Oshawa small businesses and venues have already been listed through Just Oshawa as we developed, tested and fine-tuned the model.

Those existing listings gave us an opportunity to learn what works and how we can build something more useful for both local businesses and the wider community.

We will now begin reaching out to businesses already listed to let them know their basic listing is there and introduce the next step: ongoing promotion of current Food & Drink Specials and Weekly Events.

Basic listings can remain part of Just Oshawa, but ongoing specials and event promotions require businesses to become active Community Promotion Partners so that information can be kept current and the relationship works both ways.

What Does It Cost?

There is no financial obligation.

But we don't call it completely free, because we are asking participating businesses to contribute something valuable: community awareness and cooperation.

In exchange for our ongoing promotional work, participating businesses agree to:

Allow a Just Oshawa Community Promotion Partnership poster or flyer to be displayed at their establishment.
Share one Daily Dose Of Beauty Oshawa post each week through their social media.

You choose which Daily Dose Of Beauty Oshawa image from that week you want to share, and we can prepare a customized post for your business.

No advertising fee. No sponsorship payment. No financial obligation.

Instead, we work together and use the reach we each already have to create greater awareness throughout Oshawa.

What Does Just Oshawa Provide?

We do the work of creating and sharing the promotional content.

Participating restaurants and venues can provide us with their current daily or weekly food and drink specials and weekly event information.

We create the promotional posts and share them through our presence across 9+ social networks, including networks where your business may not have its own account.

Whenever possible, those promotions lead people directly back to your business—your website, social media profiles, event information or other available contact information.

We also create the campaign posters, flyers and QR-code materials.

The materials can also connect people with Clothing With Purpose, Crafted With Purpose and current community fundraising efforts.

Daily Dose Of Beauty Oshawa

Every day, we share two photographs taken in Oshawa, highlighting the beauty already around us.

One of those photographs is accompanied by health and wellness-minded thoughts and reflections—encouraging people to pause, notice the smaller details and take a short break from the pressures of everyday life.

Our Community Promotion Partners help carry that positive Oshawa-focused message further by sharing just one Daily Dose Of Beauty Oshawa post each week.

Why Start With Restaurants and Venues?

We want to build this properly instead of trying to include every type of business at once.

Food and drink specials change regularly. Events happen every week. Both give people reasons to discover businesses, visit different parts of Oshawa and participate in their community.

By first developing a reliable network for Food & Drink Specials and Weekly Events, we can strengthen the system before expanding Community Promotion Partnerships into personal services and other types of Oshawa small businesses.

One New Partnership Every Two Weeks

We already have more than 120 businesses listed.

Now the focus changes from simply having listings to developing active partnerships.

Our initial goal is modest:

At least one new active restaurant or venue joining every two weeks.

Maintaining that pace could create more than 25 active Community Promotion Partners over the next year—businesses and venues helping one another build awareness while also helping community efforts reach more people.

There is no advertising bill attached.

What we ask for is participation.
