LIFE Community Project: Building the First Test Grow Dome for Real Change

We are excited to announce a major step forward: the planning and creation of our very first test grow dome.

This dome will be smaller than the full-sized versions we envision for the LIFE Transitional Housing Project, but it is a crucial starting point. It will serve as a real-world model where we can experiment, learn, and refine the process of growing food year-round. More than that, it will become a space for education, teaching how to grow, harvest, and transform plants into products that support health and wellness.

True Lavender:

A Soothing Gift – From Seed to Harvest: As We Grow Together

Welcome to the journey of True Lavender within our Plant Share For All initiative—a story of cultivating well-being, right from our indoor hydroponic setup, with exciting new developments!

We recently kicked things off by planting True Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) seeds. On April 11, 2025, these seeds were sown in a hydroponic grow medium. While food plants nourish the body, Lavender offers a unique gift for the mind and spirit, aligning perfectly with our goal of enhancing community well-being.

And now, we have progress! While Lavender germination often takes 14-21 days or even longer, we were thrilled to see the very first signs of life yesterday, April 24th, 2025! After carefully maintaining ideal moisture and conditions since planting, tiny sprouts have begun to emerge from the hydroponic medium. Witnessing this crucial first step – the successful germination – is incredibly exciting and marks the true beginning of cultivating this sustainable source of a valuable therapeutic herb right here in our shared space.

Every stage of this journey, from sowing the seed on April 11th to observing these first sprouts emerge on April 24th, and eventually sharing mature plants, is a reminder of the powerful connection between nature and well-being. Whether you're new to growing or experienced, witnessing this cycle unfold is special.

We’re excited to keep sharing this story as the True Lavender grows, matures, and eventually provides us with the next round of seeds—all from a simple indoor setup. You can follow the full journey through the As We Grow tabs on our website, where we’ll be posting updates, tips, and ideas to inspire your own growing adventures.

Until next time, have a beautiful day — As We Grow!
