Sweet Grass Nov 14

Growing Sweet Grass and Expanding Our Community Seed Sharing

We’re excited to share the latest addition to our growing collection: Sweet Grass! Planted on November 1st, these seeds have shown significant progress in just 14 days, and we’re thrilled to see them taking root.

Sweet Grass: A Heritage Seed for the Future
The Sweet Grass we’re growing will play an important role in our long-term efforts to preserve and share heritage seeds. Our goal is to produce an abundant supply of high-quality seeds that can be shared with others, ensuring that the next generation of plants thrives in our community and beyond. Once we’ve harvested enough seeds from this batch, we’ll make them available to members of the ILFJL Collective, within our individual community networks. This will allow people to access free seeds and plants, empowering them to grow their own gardens and contribute to sustainable, local food systems.

Encouraging Collaboration for a Good Cause
In addition to growing Sweet Grass for seed production, we are also working on a larger initiative aimed at supporting those in need. Through our Not Just A Food Program, we are encouraging members of our community to grow extra plants, which will be used to prepare fresh food for those who need it most. This effort is part of the broader LIFE Community Project, which seeks to connect individuals and communities through shared resources and mutual support.

While our Just Oshawa network is up and running, we are working hard to expand these efforts to other communities. Our hope is to create a network of people working together to grow, share, and distribute food and seeds, building a more resilient and self-sustaining future for everyone.

LIFE – Love Is For Everyone!
Stay tuned for more updates on our Sweet Grass plants and other exciting developments within our community. We look forward to working together to grow not just plants, but also a strong, compassionate network that supports the health and well-being of all.

Keep an eye on our project as we continue to expand and connect with new communities, and as we encourage everyone to get involved in this movement of growth, generosity, and sustainability.
