I receive heartbreaking messages every week from people desperately searching for a place to live. Many of them are on disability or living on a fixed income, and they are simply unable to afford safe, decent housing. Rent prices keep soaring, while wages and support systems fail to keep pace. Too many are forced to turn living rooms or dining rooms into makeshift bedrooms just to share the cost of a 1- or 2-bedroom apartment.

Politicians often claim that affordable housing is a priority, but their actions don’t reflect that reality. More and more people are becoming homeless, while rents continue to rise beyond what anyone on a fixed income can afford. The system is broken, and the impact is devastating.

We need urgent action. First, we must freeze rent prices and increase financial support for those who are struggling. The crisis will only continue if we don’t take immediate steps. We also need long-term treatment options for addiction, as short-term solutions aren’t enough. Without hope and real support, more people are falling into cycles of addiction and despair.

It’s time for more compassion and real change, not political games. We can’t keep waiting for things to improve—we need to act NOW to support those who need it most. People are dying while waiting for help. We need better support systems to restore dignity, independence, and hope to those who are suffering.

The cycle of homelessness, addiction, and despair will only grow if we don’t act. Let’s raise our voices and demand the change that’s long overdue.
