As I reflect on the past year and the journey that has brought me to this point, I’m filled with gratitude, even for the toughest moments. The road hasn’t been easy, but it has shaped me in ways I never could have imagined. Through the darkest times, I’ve discovered a strength I didn’t know I had and learned to appreciate the lessons hidden within every challenge.

The past years have been full of change and growth. I’ve faced personal struggles, learned who I am, and found a partner who has become my everything. Together, we’ve weathered many storms—from losing almost everything in a fire, to a period of homelessness, to rebuilding our lives from the ground up. Along the way, we’ve experienced the heartbreak of several miscarriages. That was a difficult journey, but it also led me to the realization that I would not have biological children. Though it was hard to accept, this realization deepened my understanding of love and family—and eventually led me to the most beautiful gift of all: our son, the love of my life.

Health-wise, the past few years have brought their own set of challenges. Four years ago, I suffered a major stroke that left me relying on a walker and oxygen. Two years ago, I underwent open heart surgery. But through it all, I’ve continued to push forward. My recovery has been nothing short of a miracle—walking 5+ kilometres a day, working out three times a week with my wife, and finding strength and purpose in each step.

Alongside my own journey, I’ve also learned to support my wife as she faces her own health struggles, including managing diabetes. Together, we’ve learned how to navigate our challenges, constantly encouraging and motivating each other.

Despite everything we’ve faced, I wouldn’t change a thing. Every setback has taught me something valuable, and every success, no matter how small, feels like a victory. The strength I’ve gained, the love I’ve found, and the family we’ve built are the most precious gifts in my life.

As we look toward the new year, I’m filled with hope. I know there will be more challenges, but I also know that, together, my family and I will continue to grow stronger. We’re rebuilding passions, focusing on our health, and moving toward even greater success.
