The Not Just A Food Program has different ways for people to connect with our efforts. For those beginning with us online, we keep the starting point simple.

Our first priority is helping with basic food and hydration needs.

🥪 A basic sandwich
💧 A bottle of water
🍎 A snack when available

For individuals receiving delivery support, a time and location are arranged and confirmed in advance.

That is where we start.

From there, support can grow based on available resources, individual needs, participation and one of the most important parts of everything we do:

Mutual respect.

🥪 We Start With Basic Needs

When someone reaches out online because they are experiencing food insecurity, we don't begin by promising everything we may eventually be able to provide.

We start with the basics.

Our first priority is a sandwich and a bottle of water. When snacks or additional supplies are available, we may include those as well.

We are currently a 100% volunt

How Our In-Person Outreach Starts

Our in-person outreach doesn't begin with a sandwich. It begins with a smile.

Sometimes we have a sign with us, and sometimes we don't. We wear positive-message shirts that help communicate why we are there before a conversation even begins. I regularly wear shirts with messages such as You Are Loved and Love Is For Everyone. Sometimes that message is even more direct:

Love Is For Everyone — Free Hugs, Smiles, Caring.

Then we do exactly that.

A smile. A hello. A little conversation. A free hug or fist bump for someone who wants one.

That's often how the connection starts.

Then We Ask a Simple Question: Are You Hungry?

If someone is hungry, our basic food offer is usually a peanut butter and jam sandwich.

It isn't intended to be fancy. It's an inexpensive, portable food that provides carbohydrates, protein, fats and calories—something that can be particularly useful when a person has limited and unpredictable access to food.

But that basic sandwich is only a star

🥪 NOT JUST A FOOD PROGRAM — EVERY CONNECTION HAS TO START SOMEWHERE

For our in-person efforts, it often starts with something very simple.

😊 A smile.
❤️ A few kind words.
💬 A conversation.
🤗 A free hug or 👊 fist bump for those who want one.

Then comes something just as simple—a basic peanut butter and jam sandwich.

Nothing fancy. Just a sandwich offered with kindness, dignity and respect.

But not every connection starts face-to-face.

Our online efforts can start differently. Sometimes it begins with someone reaching out because they need a little help. That first connection might lead to something as basic as a bottle of water or a sandwich being delivered to someone who cannot easily get to us.

The starting point may be different, but the purpose remains the same: start small, treat people with respect, and provide what we reasonably can.

From there, we continue providing more and more options for those who want them and who show respect in return for the efforts being made.

That includes respect

🏕️🥪 Lunch & Learn: Tarp Tent

Learning Practical Skills for Better Health and Wellness

Sometimes, the greatest support begins with something very simple—a conversation, a shared meal, and practical knowledge that can make everyday life a little safer, a little healthier, and a little more comfortable.

That is the purpose of our Lunch & Learn events.

Each one-hour session begins with a free sandwich and water, followed by a practical health and wellness discussion focused on real-life skills. Every event is designed to provide information that can help individuals experiencing homelessness or insecure housing while also welcoming anyone in the community who wants to learn, volunteer, or better understand the challenges others face.

These are not lectures.

They are opportunities to learn together, ask questions, share experiences, and build relationships based on dignity, respect, and compassion.

Open to Everyone

Although many of the topics are inspired by the realities of insecure housing, Lunch
